Drift down the river to enjoy an 'endless summer'
The Riverland is situated on the Murray River, one of the world's largest rivers, and covers an area of almost 300 million hectares. Situated near the borders of New South Wales and Victoria, the Riverland is just under a two hour drive from Adelaide.

The Riverland's natural landscapes, and year-round sunshine, make it a great destination for outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, bushwalking, swimming, gliding, canoeing and skiing. Or for the less active, lazy days on the riverbank watching the distinctive river birds, exploring museums and galleries, or visiting cellar doors and local produce outlets.
Paddle a canoe into the backwaters of the Murray and look out for herons, kingfishers, rosellas, pelicans and dozens of other beautiful bird species. A few kilometres downstream from Lake Bonney and the town of Barmera, there's a maze of waterways well known to canoeists looking for their own quiet backwater of the Murray. Here you can almost loose yourself as you reflect on the serene landscape. However, to ensure you don't, there are numbered markers on various trees which go from one to thirty. These give you a round trip so you end up back where you started from. Visit the local visitor information centres to pick up a canoe trail brochure.
River trade provides the basis for the region's heritage attractions including Morgan's historic port, museums and walking trails; the PS Industry at Renmark, Olivewood Homestead, Loxton Historical Village and Cobdogla Steam Museum.

You haven't really experienced the Riverland until you've feasted on the magnificent fruit products. Factory outlets sell juices and dried fruit throughout the region, whilst fresh produce can be purchased from the delightful characters on the roadside stalls.
The Riverland has several cellar doors including Australia's largest winery Berri Estates, and a number of emerging boutique wineries who are achieving great results with traditional wine making techniques.
The Riverland is the perfect destination for those searching for an eternal summer or just looking to enjoy unique scenery and world famous food and wine.
