Recovery equipment to snatch you from a tight spot
When travelling off-road, it is impossible to always know the nature of the terrain you are entering. While it is a good idea to get out and scout around suspicious looking tracks or crossings, getting bogged or stuck can't always be avoided.

This is why a snatch strap is an important part of your off-road 'tool kit'. Snatch straps work differently from an ordinary recovery strap as they are made of 100% nylon and are designed to stretch and 'snatch' out a stuck vehicle like a big rubber band.

ARB snatch straps from Adelaide Off-Road are woven and fabricated in Australia to ARB specifications, and tested by an NATA approved laboratory. The 8,000kg model is recommended for most 4WD vehicles and has genuine 20% elasticity, is 9m long and has reinforced eyes.
To complete a snatch strap recovery, both vehicles should be of a similar size. Make sure the strap is attached to approved recovery points, not to a towbar as most towbars are not equipped to pull the weight of a bogged 4WD.
Once the strap is attached with at least 2m of slack in between, the first vehicle should take off in low range until the strap is tight. When the driver of the bogged vehicle feels the strap tighten, they too should take off slowly and drive out.
Snatch strap recovery can be dangerous if the strap breaks and flies through the window of one of the vehicles or into bystanders, so make sure you use shackles with an equal or higher rating than the strap. Take care of your snatch strap to avoid wearing. It should be washed in warm water after use and stored coiled, not twisted.
Snatch straps and recovery equipment are available from Adelaide Off-Road at 52 The Parade, Norwood. For more information contact Adelaide Off-Road on 08 8363 5999.

Coil springs are able to dramatically improve the comfort of the ride for you and your passengers. Old Man Emu coil spring end configurations are designed to exact specifications, guaranteeing a perfect fit for your vehicle.
If you are likely to carry heavy loads, Old Man Emu manufactures leaf springs which incorporate a 2-leaf stage. This allows for a smooth ride when you are carrying little or no weight, as well as additional support when carrying a fully loaded vehicle.

Nitrocharger shocks feature low pressure Nitrogen for optimum performance, as well as heavy duty features to protect the internal workings from road damage and wearing.
LTR shocks cater for exceptional requirements such as heavy towing and high speed travel over dirt roads. LTRs are especially designed and manufactured to dissipate heat more effectively, and are therefore better suited to extreme conditions where regular shocks are prone to fade.
If you are looking for a new suspension system, make sure you talk to an expert about your requirements; it's no good having a system which gives you a smooth ride if your lift height is compromised when going off-road. To travel with the speed, agility and comfort of an Emu, visit Adelaide Off-Road at 52 The Parade, Norwood or contact them on 08 8363 5999.
