An R & R Beadbreaker will save your tyres and your back

Changing tyres is often a very labour intensive job and removing tyres with force can damage the rim and the seal of the tyre.

Retired German engineer, Wolfgang Boessler, was travelling Australia in his 4WD, getting flat tyres as we all do and wondering if there was a better way to remove and replace the tyre from the rim. After several years in his backyard workshop, Wolfgang developed the beadbreaker which is now manufactured in Adelaide by R & R Beadbreaker.

To remove the tyre from the rim, the beadbreaker is fitted across the rim and adjusted to the right size. It then hooks down to the centre of the wheel and a spanner is fitted over the operating nut and with several light turns and a rush of air, the bead separates from the rim. The tyre is then removed using tyre leavers and turned over to repeat the process on the other side. To refit the tyre, the process is simply repeated in reverse.

The R & R Beadbreaker is unique as it can be used on a raised surface like a table or the tailgate of a 4WD, eliminating any damage from sand, dust or mud on the ground. There is also no need for any heavy lifting, pulling or pushing, even turning the spanner to break the bead can be done with one finger.
