Caravan Park Spotlight

Rawnsley Park Station

Rawnsley Park Station is not your average caravan park, but then, it's not in your average holiday destination.

Rawnsley is a 3,035 hectare property at the southern corner of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges, where you will find beauty on a massive scale. Rawnsley Park Station is an easy day's drive, 430 km from Adelaide along sealed roads and is in an idyllic setting at the foot of the southern rampart of Wilpena Pound.

Camping visitors to Rawnsley have a choice to either stay in the caravan park enjoying the camping site lifestyle with park facilities and power. Or go further into the Park and take advantage of the outback experience of bush camping.

A fully enclosed camp kitchen provides cooking, washing up and undercover eating facilities for campers.

Other activities offered at Rawnsley Park include, sheep shearing demonstrations, relaxing in the Park's swimming pool after a day of exploring or dinning at the a la carte restaurant, the Wool Shed.

For those who wish to explore the surrounding Park and Ranges, you can either follow one of the seven marked bushwalking trails which offer walks for beginners to experienced explorers and can take from half an hour to five hours. Or cycle through the track linking the cabins/homestead precinct to the caravan park/bush camping area. To explore on four legs instead of two, join the one or two hour horse riding treks.

There are also 4WD tours conducted through the Park where you will view the most spectacular scenery of the Flinders Ranges. You are likely to see three species of kangaroo, Aboriginal culture and breathtaking views.

For a bird's eye view of the region, take a scenic flight or outback tour over Wilpena Pound or Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges. Or for a more extensive in flight adventure, book a five hour Lake Eyre Explorer or a full day Arkaroola Adventure flight.

Rawnsley Park Station is located on Wilpena Road, via Hawker. For more information or to make a booking, contact the Park on 08 8648 0008 or www.rawnsleypark.com.au or visit www.rawnsleypark.com.au.
